Final Grade Setup

PowerGrade automatically grades cumulatively. If your first semester is composed of 1200 points of material and Biff scores a total of 1058 points then he gets a 1058/1200. An 88%. You do not have to grade cumulatively; PowerGrade will allow you to weight individual grading periods, assignments, assignment categories or final exams. Or any combination.

For this example we will create a weighted S1 grade using categories (exams, homework, etc) In order for this work you must create categories first. Click here to go about creating categories.

1. Open a class in PowerGrade.

2. Click on Windows and choose Final Grade Setup from the drop down menu.

3. Select S1 from the Which final Grade menu. (You may adjust the grade for any grading period).

4. Click on the down arrow next the phrase Total points.

5. Choose category points from the menu.

6. A list of categories will appear. Choose one- the order doesn't matter.

7. After you have selected a category you must give it a percentage weight. In the example below I added exams as my first category and typed in 20 for the percentage. You may use decimals as well.

8. Now add another category by clicking on the plus (+) sign. Choose category from the drop down list. Give this new category a percentage weight and repeat.

9. In order to complete the Final Grade Setup everything should add up to 100%. PowerGrade won't let you leave until you have 100% weighting. When you are done click on the Accept button.

Remember, this is just an example. You could also calculate your grade where 80% of the grade comes from Total points and 20% comes from one assignment, say a final project. Of R1, R2 and R3 could each equal 33.3% of S1 using the % from another final grade option.
