I’m excited to work with you this semester.  We will start working on 3d printing skills first and then laser cutting and engraving.

tech news – how can I 3d print if I don’t have a 3d printer?  What if I want to print in GOLD or PLATIMUM? Try  Shapeways or Ponoko.

    2. images must be converted to SVGs – convert jpgs to svg files
  7. first 3d printing project – keychain
  8. export your finished 3d print as an STL file and email it as an attachment to drake3dprinter@gmail.com.  You cannot use your school district email to send this file.

Cutting – cuts through material
Engraves – burns the design in the material

  1. Open Inkscape on your computer
  2. using Google Advanced Image Search – filetype: PNG – search for an image you want to laser cut.  Line drawings and silhouettes work well.  Photos do not engrave well at all.

Laser Cutting Checklist

Note: all laser cutter submissions will not be emailed to:

drakelasercutter@gmail.com

Save as a PDF and attach your file.  If it’s not a PDF I can’t laser cut your design.  Put your first and last name in the subject line.

First laser cut together: laser cut bag tag/keychain

AFTER you have sent me your bagtag file then begin your Laser Cut Puzzle design.  You will work watch my video tutorial while working on this project.
