OPEN INKSCAPE NOW.  We will work on laser cutting during the last 30 minutes of class.
Part 1:
1. while loops – details
2. while loops as counter
3. your task: modify your food ordering program to limit the number of items a customer can order.  So, the program should allow the user to only order three items and then print the results as a list.
4. submit it as a new program on trinket right here.

Part 2: laser cutting
-email completed designs to drakelasercutter@gmail.com
-designs must be saved as PDF files
-cut lines must be .001 of an inch (one thousandth of an inch)

First half of class – list programming

Second half of class – laser cutting using Inkscape (open it NOW)

working with lists and while loops

  1. We will write a program that allows the user to add to a list.
  2. Now use the program that we wrote together as a model for a food ordering program.  Your program should:
    >allow the user to enter items into a list
    >print the list each time they add an item
    >ask the user if they want to add another item.  If yes, ask for another item.  If no, print list a final time and say goodbye.

Turn in your food menu program right here.

Clues:

Wrap your program in a while loop like this:

to print commas between your list items do this:

to print your list with one item per line do this:

Fire help program:

Design a program that asks the user what county they are in.  Then, give them choices to get help in that county for finding a shelter, volunteering, or donating.  Once they choose they will be sent to a website with information about that choice.

User should see something like this:

Use this code to modify your Chinese Zodiac program and provide a link for each Chinese Zodiac Symbol to the relevant website.

Follow this link – can you get the link to open in a specific browser?

Good morning Hackers and Happy Minimum Day,

My son is still home getting over his concussion so I’m with him today.  Onwards.

today’s plan:
Take a look at this code and type it into IDLE:

Now try a new file with this code:

Both work the same – the only difference is that int variables don’t need quotes around the output.

Use this code as a model to create a program that asks the user for:
-their name
-what year they were born
-their age

and then uses the year born to tell the user what Chinese Zodiac they match with.  Here’s a handy chart that shows you zodiac are associated with each year.
