Script thrills

Javascript and DHTML are two of the programming languages used in building web pages. Like HTML, they are text based.

Unlike HTML you do not have learn the languages put them to work. There are many web sites available the provide pre-written chunks of code (called scripts) that you can copy and paste into your very own HTML. Your knowledge of HTML is all you need to use these scripts.

Before you begin this assignment you MUST make the following adjustment in Dreamweaver.
1. Click on Edit and choose Preferences.
2. Choose New File from the menu on the left hand side. Set the "Default Document Type (DTD) to "none". Click here for a screenshot.

Your assignment:

1. Create a folder on your I drive called "scripts". You will save your web pages and images into this folder. Create an images folder in the scripts folder and save all necessary images here.

2. Using the resources listed below create at least three web pages with three separate effects that use a Javascript or DHTML script. Create your pages in Dreamweaver and switch to the "code view" to paste the script in the right place.

3. Follow the script instructions carefully- they will tell you WHERE to copy and paste the script. You may also find handy ways to change the variables (speed, color, etc).

4. On each page:
-create links to your other effects pages.
-give the complete URL of the page where you found your script (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/bounceimage.htm)
