Copy Class Information

The Copy Class Info feature allows you to copy categories, assignments, final grade setup and grade scales from one class to another. You can copy one of the above or all. So if you have three sections of Spanish 1, setup one class and then copy the settings to the other two.

DISCLAIMER: Depending on the choices that you make using copy class info you may erase, lose and delete information related to your classes. Follow these instructions carefully and do not attempt this procedure if you are heavily caffienated or in a hurry.

Let's assume that you have three classes that you wish to have identical settings (categories, assignments and final grade setup). Call them classes A, B and C.

1. Set up the desired assignments, categories and/or final grade setup for class A. Don't worry if you don't create EVERY single assignment on day one. In fact, you could just as easily use this process to copy final grade setup only.

2. Once you have completed step 1 save and close class A. Open class B.

3. Click on the Utilities menu and choose Copy Class Info from the drop down menu.

4. From the Open Class menu choose class A. This is the class that you are COPYING FROM. If you choose the wrong class your risk erasing data that you just created.

5. Check the items that you wish to copy FROM class A to class B. You may copy one or all four items.

Note that copying FInal Grade Setup or Assignments will automatically copy any existing categories from class A to class B. See Final Grade Setup for more info.

If you are starting fresh and have not added ANYTHING to class B then choose "Replace the item completely in this class with the item from the other class". This will replace everything in class B that you checked.

If you are adding information to a class that already has existing settings choose option 1 (Add the item to whatever already exists in this class). This will add to whatever exists in class B.

Once you have made your choice click the Copy button.

6. If you select option 2 you will see this alarming message. It is true. If you followed the above steps click Yes. Not sure? Click No and double check.

7. Now repeat steps 2 through 6 for class C, etc.
