How to add a comment to a student's record

If you have added Comments to student records for a previous grading period be sure to erase these comments. To clear comments open the Comment window and click the Clear all notes button. This will erase all existing student comments for the open class.

To add a student comment you must create at least one assignment for the class.

Please limit each comment to no more than 25 words.

1. From the PowerGrade spreadsheet view double-click on the number to the left of the student's name. Problems? See below.

2. The Student note window will open. Switch the Insert Comment Bank menu to School Comment.

4. To insert a comment, double click on the desired code in the Comment Code window. Click here for comment code definitions.

5. The comment code will appear in the parent note window above.

6. Press the Return/Enter key before adding the next comment.

7. You may also enter a free form comment of up to 25 words by typing in the "Parent Note" window.

8. To enter a comment for the next student select the next student from the drop-down menu at the top of the comment window.

9. Click the OK button when you have finished entering comments.

Please do not exceed the 25 word limit on student comments.

NOTE: If you are having trouble double-clicking on the number next to the student's name try the following:
-Mac users: hold down the Apple key and SINGLE click on the number.
-Windows users hold down the control key (CTRL) and SINGLE click on the number.
