Assigning Extra Credit using PowerGrade

1. Open a class in PowerGrade.
2. Select Categories from the Windows menu.
3. Click on the New Category button.
4. Enter "Extra Credit" in the name field
5. Leave Dflt Pts Poss blank.
6. Click on Accept and then close the window.
7. Return to the Windows menu and choose Assignments.
8. Click the New button.
9. Select the Extra Credit category from the Category menu at the top of the window.
10. Enter an appropriate name for the Extra Credit assignment. You might want to reference the relevant time period (Q2, R3, October, etc).
11. DO NOT assign a Pts. Poss. value. Leave this field blank.
12. Enter the desired date.
13. Click on the Accept button and then the Close button.

To assign extra credt:
1. In PowerGrade, locate your newly created Extra Credit assignment.
2. Enter any point total desired. Remember, only students receiving points for this assignment will receive a grade change. All other grades will remain unaffected.

Note: if you notice that this assignment is affecting grades for students who did not receive extra credit verify that the Extra Credit assignment does NOT have a Pts. Poss. value. Clear this value in the assignment if necessary.
